The tobacco used for Cohiba, similar to Montecristo, is separately chosen for the best flavor and scent from San Luis and San Juan y Martinez, also areas of the Vuelta Abajo region. Not like other common Habanos smokes, the Cohiba stuffing leaves - the seco and ligero undergo a third stage of fermentation process done in wooden casks to produce its distinctive flavor.
